Becoming a Junior Girl Scout...

It has been an eventful week for Calli! Not only did she finish the third grade, but she also bridged into being a Junior Girl Scout. Her troop had a camp out in the backyard of one of her troop leader's house. This was one of the first steps in becoming a Junior. She had a lot of fun, but not a lot of sleep! She enjoyed making her dinner by fire, crafting a candle, having a bonfire and playing games. The next day brought about some more initiations......again, making meals only by campfire, swimming, and preparing dinner for the all the parent's and families. The girl's were responsible for ALL the prep, serving and set up for our picnic. Our meal included, sloppy joe's, chips, vegetables and fruit. We topped of our celebration with a ceremony and cake made especially for Troop # 12709. Thanks again to Kelly for doing such an outstanding job of decorating the cake. It was truly unremarkable, and the girl's loved it! Thanks also to the wonderful troop leader's for an awesome year of Girl Scouts, looking forward to next year and the memories that will be made as Juniors....

Enjoying the good food, mmm...

To start off the bridging ceremony, the girl's recited The Pledge of Allegiance...

And then followed up with The Girl Scout's Law...

Each girl was given the opportunity to share their highlights of the Brownie season...
(Calli mentioned that she enjoyed the science projects this season, and is looking forward to the fun field trips planned for next year as a Junior)
