On The Road Again

We spent another fun-filled Labor Day weekend in Duluth this year. It was even more memorable, because Mark and I celebrated our 11th year wedding anniversary on Saturday. This year we journeyed to a new state park called, Tettegouche State Park. We hiked for 1.5 miles to see the beautiful cascading falls on the Baptism river. Whoa.... I didn't know if we were going to make that 3 mile hike, but it was definitely worth all the sweat and blood. We ended the evening with a relaxing drink and dinner at Little Angie's Mexican Cantina, while my Mom took the kids' swimming at the hotel pool. On Sunday we shopped 'til we dropped, and grabbed some lunch at Grandma's on the deck while enjoying the view of the bridge. We topped off the afternoon playing in the sun, sand and water at Park Point. The beach is absolutely gorgegous, and it was a perfect ending to our vacation in Duluth.

A Sister's Love

She knows the things I dream of...

The places where I've been.

She accepts the person I've become.

She's a very special friend.

She's always been there for me.

No matter where I roam,

And whenever we're together,

It's just like being home.

Are We There Yet?

We heard this expression about a hundred times on our road trip to Chicago from the kid's. It was a looooooooong car ride, but definitely worth the time! We had the opportunity to spend a long weekend visiting my sister, who moved to Chicago this past June. She lives just a few miles north of downtown Chicago, and it was an exciting time to be able to spend with her. The city of Chicago has some absolutely beautiful sights to see. It was very unique to see Lake Michigan amidst a stunning background of city skyscraper's. We had a jammed packed, fun-filled weekend filled with lots of sightseeing. Al tho, we each had our own favorite place, we all agreed that Chicago is a breath taking city to visit. Here is a list of our family's favorite's.......

Mark...China Town, just located south of the city, has a diverse culture. He enjoyed his new found Chinese restaurant, Joy Lee Noodle. He says it even tops Dragon House. He even enjoyed perusing through the Chinese flee market.

Stacy...The Sear's Tower Sky Deck, located in the heart of downtown Chicago. It was a magnificent sight to see the entire city, and a breath taking view of Lake Michigan. I got to see all of Chicago in just moments!

Calli...The American Girl Place, located in downtown Chicago. This has been a dream for Calli! She absolutely LOVES her American Doll, and what a chance to shop in a store that has it all. She saved her money for several months to have a shopping spree of her life. She purchased a doll carrier, outfit, and accessories.

Caden..."I liked it all!" He had something exciting to tell about each adventure we took. Just a few of his top choices included playing, or should I say torturing Mandy's cats, being by the water, riding the "L" and trolley, rides at Navy Pier, and the John Deere Farm at Lincoln Park Zoo (where he made several purchases from his hard earned money).

All Aboard!!!

We spent this gorgeous afternoon taking a train ride from Osceola to Dresser, Wisconsin. It was really neat to see how people traveled by train years ago. Calli thought is was pretty cool that we could send ourselves post cards from the train. And Caden was just totally amazed by being able to walk and ride on the train!

Vacation Bible School 2008

I had the privilege of sharing Jesus' life with nine 4 year-olds this past week at our church's vacation bible school. Altho, I had much fret and worry about teaching to these young children, it was truly a blessed event that I am honored to be a part of. What a beautiful sight to witness such enthusiasm and and spirit in such little people!
