Practice Makes Perfect

ATTENTION ALL RACE FANS…IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

They say that practice makes perfect...
after months and months of BMX practice Calli has decided to start racing, and today was her day to start!
We are so excited for Calli to participate competitively in this extreme sport; it has truly become a family event for us. Although it is not her nature to be “extreme”, actually quite the opposite…hence her nickname, “Cautious Calli”, she is going to have fun learning the skills and edge of BMX racing. She is surrounded by some great “coaches”, and with the support of Midwest Militia’s Racing Team she is on the right track!
Today’s race was a special race in 2 ways…
1. Having both my children race; who would of thought that the butterflies just keep coming and,
2. A benefit race for Christine Schnor; a memorable woman, BMXer, and coach for the BMX community. Although, I did not know her personally, her presence at the track will truly be missed and forever a treasured memory.

We are looking forward to all that this sport will bring to you…confidence, agility, strategy, determination, and most of all lots and lots of FUN.

Good luck Calli, we will be cheering for you!

STAR Students

The kids were shining STARS this past trimester at their schools…

We are so proud to announce that Calli has made the B Honor Roll once again (for the second trimester) since starting 6th grade at Roosevelt Middle School. She has continued to work hard on her core classes in reading, science, math, and social studies. Although math is one of her favorite subjects, and social studies her least favorite, she is doing an overall fantastic job.

WAY TO GO, MISS CALLI! ;)

Caden was recently honored by being selected as Student of the Month by his teacher. We received the following letter, nomination ballot and certificate regarding his all-around achievements in second grade. We are so proud…

Here is the picture of Caden that is posted on the bulletin board at school...

WAY TO GO, BUDDY!

Winter Has FINALLY Arrived...

and what a perfect day to have a SNOW DAY! No school means 2 children who are cheering, screaming and very eager to get outside and PLAY! Especially this winter…since we have NOT had much snow to play in.

And now...time for some hot chocolate, MMM!

Little Hands Make BIG Masterpieces!

This evening we attended McKinley’s Showcase as a family to celebrate Caden’s creativity/talent and the entire Bulldogs of McKinley Elementary.

This year Caden wanted to create something with his Legos collection. He did an awesome job of thinking, creating and constructing a house on fire with a fire truck (with VERY LITTLE help from Dad).

A fun event at the Showcase is being able to leave wonderful comments for the student’s talent and/or creations. Here are a few of the comments that Caden received this evening…

*I love the house on fire, that’s awesome. –Calli

*You did an awesome job creating your Lego fire scene. We are so proud of your creativity, and that you thought and constructed this project on your own! We love you always. –Dad & Mom

*I love yours. –Anonymous

*Dear Caden, Super job on your Lego fire truck. I love how you displayed it. Way to go! -Mrs. Hildman

A Winning Weekend!

The first BIG weekend of racing for 2012 has arrived...

Caden is geared up and ready to roll for Minnesota's first State Series race!

It was an all around WINNING weekend for Caden...
taking 1st Place on Saturday and Sunday!

SATURDAY: MINNESOTA STATE QUALIFIER
Saturday was an all day event kicking off with registration and timed/age practices starting at 10:00 a.m. at the "barn" with racing to follow. Over 350+ riders came out to race with 69 motos posted...numbers that exceeded last years racing!

Mark and I were involved with the behind the scenes action this year...Mark helped with staging and prepping the racers to get ready for their motos. He enjoyed the "organized chaos" and being able to chat with all the racers before they entered their gates. I and another Mom assisted each other with the 50/50 Raffle Sales for Rehbein's BMX Arena, a.k.a "the barn". We had a lot of fun talking with the the families and friends of all the racers from all over Minnesota, the Upper Midwest and even Canada! We sold over 5,000 tickets for a whopping grand total of $1,564.00. A lucky local BMX family won 50% (half of the sales), with the other 50% going to the track.

Caden had an outstanding day of racing on Saturday...he performed a "hat trick" and took 1st place in his first qualifying moto (taking an immediate transfer to the main race) and then finshed 1st again in the mains! He raced with a total of 12 riders from all over Minnesota and even a couple of riders from North Dakota. Midwest Militia (Caden's racing team) finished on top as well...taking home 1st place for team points. Congratulations, Midwest Militia and Caden...we are so proud :)

We are so grateful for the friends and family who came out to cheer on and support Caden this weekend...his fans make all the difference and really help him to "ride hard". Thanks again to Papa and Nana, Jo Jo and The Rosar's for sharing their time with us!

SUNDAY: REDLINE CUP NATIONAL QUALIFIER
Sunday's national race brought about an even earlier start for all of us with timed/age practices starting at 8:00 a.m. (not so great for us non-early morning folks-ha! ha!) Rider numbers and motos were a little less than Saturday, but still broke the record from last year!
Caden was super excited to participate in the parade lap with his team, Midwest Militia along with Sotoboy Racing. These teams placed 1st and 2nd in team points on Saturday, therefore, kicking off racing today and shining on the track as the top teams.

Caden again shone by taking 1st place in his first moto and mains! He is doing an outstanding job of racing and is really at the top of his game right now. Today's win is #12 for him...he is half way to reaching his 25 wins to turn "Expert" (highest level of BMX racing). Good job, buddy!

A big shout out again to Nana and Papa for joining us
for day 2 of racing...:)
What a FUN, GREAT and OUTSTANDING weekend of racing...
we are looking forward to Caden participating in even more State and National races this summer! Who would of ever imagined that BMX racing, a sport we had not even heard of until 2 years ago, would take us all over the state of Minnesota and throughout the Nation...
Thanks for the ride, Caden!
